Would You Give Billions to Charity?

If you’re part of the Buffett-Gates Charity Pledge, you’re going to. That’s right. a pretty lengthy list of the world’s billionaires have signed a pledge stating they’ll give more than half of their wealth away to charity.

The list is a veritable who’s who of America’s very richest: Barron Hilton. Michael Bloomberg. Gearge Lucas. Ted Turner. The list goes on.

It’s amazing really.

As the official website states:

The Giving Pledge is an effort to invite the wealthiest individuals and families in America to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to the philanthropic causes and charitable organizations of their choice either during their lifetime or after their death.

Who can argue with that?

After all, isn’t it better that the money goes to a charitable cause, rather then swell the already huge ranks of heiresses that dominate reality television and the “news” with their DUIs and drunken battles with each other? (I’m not even going to bother to name any names.)

It makes me wonder… Does this mean the world is officially going to be a better place?
